Um, Can I Just Say...

My students are awesome!
I love the effort they're showing and how eager they are to learn. It's fun reading their writing and getting to know their wit. They're witty, y'all!
Today we did a mindfulness activity where the students thought about alternatives to negative self talk and then collaborated with their group to submit a group response. OMG. #impressed!

That's a Wrap - Day 1

Holy moly - what a whirlwind! We constructed name tag towers in table groups, completed all kinds of get-to-know-you activities, even took a spelling pre-test.  We started on heart maps and made vocabulary flip books - y'all - we were Busy! Capital B.
How do I manage to always get the most amazing class - Every.Single.Year!? #magic
I love these kids!
What a great day!

Pictures of Summer - Week 9

Ahhhh - mid-August. School starts next week, y'all! This week I was absolutely dedicated to relaxing because the end of summer and the start of school is literally around the next bend. I know this year will be a challenge - in the absolute best sense of the word. New (amazing) school. New grade level. New students and families - I can't wait to get to know them all! So very, very excited!
Bye summer!
This was how I closed out the summer...

Pictures of Summer - Week 8

The end is near, my friends. August.  The Sunday of Summer. Last month was filled with room set up, prep and lots of learning in some truly amazing professional development conferences. I continued this trend as I took this first week of August to absorb that learning and finalize plans for the first couple weeks of school.  Our classroom got some TLC, too, and my glue gun got a workout as I put the finishing touches on my room 17. Y'all really missed out on some fun - assembling IKEA bookcases and setting up our leveled library! It really does take a village though. For IKEA assembly I have to thank my husband, Wes - as well as my former coworker and AMAZING teacher,  and super friend, Liz. Also big thank you for heavy lifting and classroom moving to my former and outstanding IA and fantastic friends, Dagmar, her awesome daughter, and my friend, Farrah, and sweet son, Danny.  And for help organizing my hoard awesome teaching supplies - thank you to Meghann, another former coworker and true friend. Y'all really and truly came through for me and I greatly appreciate the help and especially your friendship! Talk amongst yourselves.
Next week - a truly relaxing week of beach going and napping - maybe a little work at the end of the week! Until then, check out week 8...
