Ink a Dink a Bottle of Ink...

Yay! We got ink! It's not snazzy or super exciting to most, but let me tell you, when that printer light comes on and I have ink at the ready - I'll be excited!

We thanked our DonorsChoose donors with some super creative notes and drawings.

Teaching kids to have a spirit of gratitude!

Emily Arrow

If you haven't heard of Emily Arrow and her amazing songs written to pair up with some great kids lit - you HAVE to check her out!

Thanks to our fantastic, superhero librarian we were blessed with a visit from Emily.

She was a huge hit as she played the uke and guitar and sang some of her favorite, original songs. My students love read aloud time and they love, love, love Emily's songs. Here's just a couple pics from the day.

But seriously - check her out on YouTube and tell your friends!

Writing Math Stories

We've been learning about Snow Leopards in class this week. My students have loved learning about their habitat and how they survive cold conditions. We began thinking about their spots and camouflage which naturally led to counting spots and viola! Addition stories!

We pretended we were on a photography hunt and drew a photograph we would take. Then we counted the spots and imagined how many spots we couldn't see in our "photo" - instant double digit addition stories!

We're Baaaaack!

The first week back after 3 weeks off is always so much fun! We are definitely getting back in the swing of things as we learn about our bodies, compound words and review parts of speech!

Check out my students as they jumped right into writing this week - making some resolutions and setting learning goals.
